ABOUT ANNIE SLOAN MIDDLE EAST
Clews Everard has lived and worked in the Middle East for many years and heard about Annie Sloan’s amazing decorative paint, Chalk Paint™ through a friend in the UK. She thought it absolutely brilliant and booked herself onto an Annie Sloan workshop in Wiltshire. The different techniques and extensive possibilities the paint offered sparked huge excitement and she began to use the paint at home. Watching the continued global success of Annie Sloan Interiors and as it flourished in South Africa; a place that shares a similarly hot climate, Clews believed that it could gain equal success in the Middle East. She contacted her old friend Alison Collins, the founder of The Majlis Gallery, one of the foremost fine art and decorative galleries in Dubai. This seemed a perfect place to introduce Annie Sloan Interiors to the region. Clews went to meet the Annie Sloan team in Oxford and loved their ethos and business model which is creative, collaborative, passionate and positive. So with an inspired melting pot of multi-culture flourishing in the Middle East we are delighted to have been given the opportunity to provide local creatives with the tools they need to develop exciting paint finishes and interiors.

Annie’s Background
Annie trained as a fine artist and turned to decorative work after university in the mid 1970s whilst painting murals as private commissions. By 1987, Annie had written the phenomenally successful book The Complete Book of Decorative Paint Techniques, which is considered to be the industry manual on the subject. Unable to find the paints that she wished to work with, Annie used her knowledge of colour, paint, pigments and art history to develop Chalk Paint™ in 1990. Then in 2000, Annie set up a shop in Oxford to showcase Chalk Paint™, run courses and offer interior design services with a particular emphasis on paint transformations and colour, using it to the best effects.
Annie still lives and works in Oxford with her husband David, who runs the business with her. Annie has three sons and has lived in Australia to a Scottish father and a Fijian mother, Annie came to England to a farming life in Kent when she was ten years old. With spells in Southern Africa and connections to France, Cuba and the US, Annie feels she has world roots which is reflected in her style, extradorinary paint and love of the individual and unique.
