PAINT TECHNIQUE WORKSHOPS
All of our Stockists hold a range of practical paint and decorative technique workshops. These are great courses that introduce you to the extensive world of possibilities that Chalk Paint™ and other Annie Sloan products can bring. To find your nearest stockist, please go to the Stockists page and look under the individual stockist. Courses are generally half day or full day – the techniques are the same but the structuring may be different.
Techniques One Half Day
An introduction to painting with Chalk Paint™. This course teaches the basic Annie Sloan techniques to set your imagination alight. You will be inspired by Annie’s practical approach to painting and gain confidence to achieve a range of professional, quality finishes without the fuss. It is recommended that all complete this course before signing on to any of the other courses. These basic techniques include:
- Two-colour aged look – Annie’s ‘signature’ finish
- One-colour aged look
- Crackle look using heat
- Use of clear and dark wax to create different effects
Techniques Two – decorative finishes Half Day
This workshop is for those who would like to extend their skills further and ideally have attended the Techniques One workshop. It covers the sort of thing you’d see on a piece of furniture and think ‘I’d love that in my home’ – ‘Now how did they do THAT!’ The techniques include:
- Gilding
- Decoupage
- Crackle effect using Craqueleur
- Creating textures with paint
- Two tone stencilling over texture
- Creating and applying transfers
The Colour Workshop Half Day
One of the keys things to being an artist or designer and developing a good eye is to know your colours! Become fluent in the language of colour and discover the secrets to mixing beautiful colours and creating your own bespoke shades. This course gives you great advice about how to make interesting colour choices, understanding the theory that underpins good design decisions. The workshop will include the following areas of knowledge:
- Colour Theory Basics in relation to Chalk Paint™ decorative paint by Annie Sloan
- Colour Wheel
- Complementary colours
- Mixing colours
- Matching colour tones
- Creating interesting colour clashes
- Colours for different styles
- Finding Colour inspiration
Paint with Me Days Half Day
Come and paint your own furniture or other small projects under the guidance of a trained professional. You will have access to the full range of Chalk Paint™ colours, waxes and other materials. Share the workshop space with other creative people whilst listening to music and exploring the wonders of Annie Sloan’s decorative paint, Chalk Paint™. All Chalk Paint™ and other materials you use on the day will be included in the cost of the workshop. The items you bring should be small enough to carry into the workshop yourself and be finished within four hours. Come and join in the fun!
